Broken search results

To reproduce:

  1. Go to the search page directly https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/search/
  2. Do any search, to bring you back to the map
  3. Update the url (saving the query params), to point to /beta/map/
  4. No events will load on the map

You should notice that the baselayers don't load, and if you open the settings panel you will see that lots of settings are not set by default. It looks like that if you navigate to the search page from the map/list and then return to the map and list that the current configuration of the map/list is maintained. However, we are not honoring the default settings when none exist in a search url.
